Fight Fit
Friday and Saturday were my days at Fight Fit Cleveland. On Friday, I lucked out and partnered with a female college student who was around my size and weight! We started out the session by taking a run outside which was perfect considering the nice breeze and warm weather. Then we started the self defense portion of the class. We began with the opposite person coming forward and tapping you, and the response was to kick them and then do a jab-cross combination punch. Another combination we did was if someone walked up from you behind (maybe touching your back or holding you in a choke) and how to respond to that. The first thing you do is look back, then punch with your shoulder (and pivot your opposite foot) then follow that with a punch using the same arm and a second punch using your other arm. While it is difficult to explain in words, it is easier in action. We also continued class with a useful way to block a haymaker (type of punch). It was a very informative session and I learned a lot of different forms of defense. A lot of these ideas were reinforced on Saturday. Overall, I am learning a lot and do learn something new from each class.
