Arrived back in Cleveland yesterday, and today was the start of the second part of my project. It was quite productive; we began at Boulevard Elementary School where we shot a brief interview with the principal, presumably for an end-of school assembly. Actually, most of our time at the school consisted of setting up for the interview, rather than shooting it. I was mostly in charge of the lighting, specifically, holding a large white board to reflect the light to make the shot look nice. It's an important job, actually; you don't want your subject to seem flat against the background. You want them to pop, look vibrant and lively.
The second part of my day was a long creative brainstorming session regarding ideas for screenplays. Tiffany (my sponsor), another student of hers and I congregated at Stone Oven and bounced ideas off each other for a few hours, and we were sent off with fairly fleshed out concepts for scripts. I personally recycled an idea I had during the winter film intensive (that being a guy with financial issues decides to fake and sell footage of Bigfoot), but completely restructured the plot so as to infuse within it some necessities of a script. Character motivation, an instigating event, the dividing points of the three acts, all were hammered out today so that I can begin the actual writing process tomorrow and work into the weekend. The plan is to have a first draft by Tuesday.
