CRCC
Another long day at the CRCC today. I arrived a little early and cut posters for the next hour of the day. Then just as my hands began to hurt from the scissors, I was assigned a new task. Mr. Brian Dodyk went to Lakewood High School on May 12th and May 14th to give seminars titled "Sexual Assault Awareness" and "Consent vs. Coercion vs. Assault". While he was at Lakewood, he assigned the students a pre-test and post-test to see what they have learned from him afterwards. My duty was to tally and interpret these tests. Although there were around 200 tests for before and 200 for after and each test had 15-17 questions. Some of these questions included whether or not students felt comfortable enough with their peers to talk about sexual assault, felt comfortable in their own school to stand up for their friends, whether or not rape is a victim's fault, whether it is acceptable or not to constantly pressure your partner for sex, and others. And yes, there are right and wrong answers to each of these questions. I spent around 5 hours today doing that and then entering what I had completed into the system. I also recorded the other sessions where Mr. Dodyk spoke, based on their class size and class period. It was interesting to learn how to use their database (Apricot), but it was a not-super-exciting day at the center.
