First of all, on Wednesday, May 21, Kate had her baby! Meet
Ellie Patricia Milgrom…
This week was full of many different tasks around the
temple. I began to focus my work more on
Kate’s To Do list, working to format calendars and make various lists that will
be used for the Religious School next year.
While doing this, I am finding it challenging to work with someone
else’s system of organization and try to figure it out fairly blindly. I will continue for the rest of the project
period to work on these various calendars (I still have a few big projects
ahead of me…). I decided to take the outstanding
list of projects and tasks and divide it between the remaining days in the
project to orient myself for each day. Although
I already know I will not stick exactly to that day plan, it will help to make
sure I complete the tasks before the time is done.
Beth and I managed to actually finish a few of the ongoing
projects we had been working on by the end of this week. All of the social
action projects are now ready to be donated or returned to their proper
organizations and my desk is looking a lot cleaner, finally!
On Thursday, I got to go with Beth to a Family Educators
Network meeting. This network of colleagues
meet throughout the year to bounce ideas off of each other, support each other’s
work, and make lasting professional and personal relationships. It was really cool to see how this group of
adults worked together almost like a Hawken class might while brainstorming
project ideas and working together to accomplish a goal. I hadn’t really ever realized how
professional adults also need a sounding board for ideas and don’t always know
exactly what to do all by themself. I
enjoyed this meeting and even got to contribute to the conversation some of my
own thoughts.
